Ok, it has been a REALLY REALLY long time since I have been back at DA.
I was very "heads down" working full time these last years as an engineer while pursuing a Masters degree from Harvard.
Then I hand a pretty horrific hanglider accident back in May, after which I was "graced" with a titanium reinforced skeleton to hold the 20+ fracture back together. Then began the long wait to see if the nerve damage was permanent, or if the partial paralysis would lift. Six months of physical therapy and more surgery, and I am now ambulatory and somewhat functional, with at last another 6 months to go before I am fully recovered, which should just about coincide for graduating from Harvard.
I might even be flying again in a couple of months.
Whew. What a ride.

Back after another long hiatus
Another incredibly long hiatus. Hanglider recovery was much longer than expected, and left me with permanently shaky hands from nerve damage. I pretty much gave up drawing, sketching, play drums/guitar/harp man years after much frustration. However, two years ago I took up playing the ukulele, and more recently was inspired to try drawing/painting again on a tablet since its "redo" is a lot more forgiving than rice-piper and in!. Going to focus on seeing the world through the eyes of airplanes....aviation as a metaphor for life...
Another Happy Dream
Been quite a while since I've been on DA... I've been tinkering more with robotics and synthesizeds these days than art; not to mention flying my sailplane as often as I can...
I've also achieved yet another big life dream... I'm now and engineerling lead for Disney! Hurray! And not some crappy BS IT engineer doing corporate crap, either... I really am part of what makes the Disney magic happen. WOOT!
Happy Happy Days!
Woo hoo! After years away from it, I'm back flying again! For years I had to keep my gaze down to the ground, because it hurt so much to look up. Now, I'm back in my home in the sky, and will be taking ownership of my own sailplane shortly.
-Here's one of my favorite old old writings about flying. I fly sailplanes these day instead of powered aircraft, but the feelings are oh-so-similar.
Help, I Am A Prisoner In A State of Mind
Something must have gone wrong at the very first, when I was learning to fly. I remember that I had a very difficult time really believing that these little machines actually lift up OFF THE GROUND. One minute the p
haiku
i've had this haiku going through my head with different images...none of them seem to catch the emotion i want to express though...guess i'll keep trying.
